I too have used Lubuntu on my Acer Aspire One netbook. The performance is quite good. I've since tried other distros as well, and the one I keep going back to is Zorin OS (Another Ubuntu derivative). I'm using the full blown 5.2 release (based on Natty), there is a 'Lite' release as well, and they've recently released Version 6.0 Lite, which is in line with Ubuntu 12.04. But agree, Lubuntu works well on the smaller form factor. But go keep Zorin in my mind, I believe this distro is worth a look. So much so, I've standardised on it across all my machines.

@Jose: maybe pluging in a VGA monitor, ethernet and a phone in the USB port can speed up the process ? Also - have you tried to get a terminal screen with CTRL+ALT+F1 ?

Thank you very much leogaggl, in fact this is what I am waiting for, the problem is that I think this is going to take a very long time, the only batery consumption are three leds, if I branch some gadget in the USB to increase the batery consumption it doesn't work :-(

I bought a couple a weeks ago the Z830 and I installed the Ubuntu 12.04 64bits.

It worked nicely until today :-(. This morning it froze completelly, nothing works, the screen is off, the ethernet is off, the USB is also off...

The problem is that even the switch off button (pushed for more that 4 second, even a minute) doesn't work, and then, I can't swich off the laptop to reboot :-(

I thought removing the battery, but to do that I have to open the laptop :-(

The only sings that the laptop is still alive are the pulg led (it blinks since the laptop is not branched), the power led (in green) and the internet led (also in green).

Any Idea on how to reboot the computer?

@Jens You might have to look at the Toshiba FNFX utilities. I used to have to install them on older Toshy models.

<code>sudo apt-get install fnfxd fnfx-client</code>

<a href="http://sourceforge.net/projects/fnfx/" title="FNFX" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://sourceforge.net/projects/fnfx/</a>

HTH !
