Thanks to Olivier Berten for providing this package via his PPA Repo !
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:olivier-berten/misc
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install mysql-workbench-gpl
EDIT: this has been confirmed to work on Ubuntu 12.04 (Precise Pangolin) as well).
Thanks for sharing, but I keep getting this message:
/usr/bin/mysql-workbench-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libgdkmm-2.4.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Please let me know if you know how to fix this. thanks in advance!
@cesar: seems tyou have some issue with one of the GTK libraries (which should be installed by default in Ubuntu.
Maybe this helps: http://www.google.com/search?q=libgdkmm+reinstall+ubuntu

Thanks for sharing. It was really time saving. Thanks!!
Thanks Leo for posting this. And, thanks Olivier Berten for putting this together.
Very nice :-)
Thanks. My attempt to install using the debian package left all kinds of unresolved dependencies. Using your commands worked flawlessly.
